Hundreds of thousands marched in London on Saturday for the 14th national demonstration for Palestine, marking the 76th anniversary of the Nakba. Organized by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, the protest commemorated the displacement of 750,000 Palestinians in 1947-48 and called for an end to Israel’s military actions and systemic discrimination. The march started at Mortimer Street and ended at Whitehall, with participants denouncing Israel’s “genocidal assault” on Gaza. Speakers included Gazan photojournalist Motaz Azaiza, Palestinian poet Rafeef Ziadah, former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, and PCS union General Secretary Fran Heathcote. Ben Jamal, director of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, highlighted the Nakba as an ongoing act of dispossession and ethnic cleansing. He stated, “We march to celebrate and affirm the refusal of the Palestinian people to succumb to erasure. We will not stop until the Palestinian people achieve their liberation.”
