US reveals it paused shipment of bombs for Israel over Rafah concerns

Last week, the US halted a shipment of bombs to Israel due to concerns about a potential major ground operation in Rafah, Gaza. The shipment included 1,800 2,000lb bombs and 1,700 500lb bombs. US officials stated that Israel hasn’t adequately addressed concerns about the humanitarian needs of civilians in Rafah. Despite opposition from US lawmakers and parts of the public, Israel appears prepared for a large-scale invasion of Rafah, Hamas’ last major stronghold in Gaza. US officials have cautioned that such an operation in the densely populated city could result in significant civilian casualties.
