US military shuts down problematic Gaza aid pier

US military officials announced that a temporary pier in Gaza had fulfilled its mission of delivering aid, despite the UN reporting severe food insecurity affecting 96% of Gaza’s population, with nearly 495,000 people at risk of starvation due to the ongoing conflict. Vice Admiral Brad Cooper stated that the pier was no longer needed, and future aid would be sent through Israel’s Port of Ashdod. However, aid groups criticized the pier as a costly diversion, arguing that land routes were the only viable solution for the escalating humanitarian crisis.
