The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has confirmed that food supplies entering Gaza meet only six per cent of people’s needs, as reported by the Palestinian Information Centre. This shortage has led to a severe crisis, especially in accessing bread, causing many bakeries in the southern part of the enclave to shut down.
Over two million displaced people in Gaza are struggling with hunger, thirst, disease, and fear, while conditions in displacement camps remain dire due to severe food shortages. UNRWA is urging the full reopening of crossings to allow essential supplies and prevent widespread famine, with malnutrition and disease already affecting the population.
