UK suspends funding to UN agency in Gaza as staff sacked over Hamas attack allegations

The UK, along with the US, Australia, Italy, and Canada, has paused funding to the UN agency aiding Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, due to allegations of staff involvement in a Hamas attack on Israel on 7 October, which led to over 1,200 deaths and sparked a war in Gaza. This conflict has resulted in over 25,000 Palestinian casualties. The UK Foreign Office condemned the attack as a “heinous act of terrorism.”
