UK announces sanctions on four ‘extremist’ Israeli settlers

The United Kingdom has imposed sanctions on four Israeli settlers accused of human rights abuses against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, following a similar move by the United States. The sanctions target individuals involved in what the UK calls “unprecedented levels of violence” by extremist settlers in the West Bank over the past year. This action, rare for both London and Washington, comes amidst heavy criticism of their support for Israel’s military operations in Gaza. British Foreign Secretary David Cameron emphasized the need for Israel to take stronger action to stop settler violence, which he described as illegal and unacceptable, threatening security and stability for both Israelis and Palestinians.
