A 20-day-old baby, Jumaa al-Batran, has died from severe cold in Gaza, marking the fifth hypothermia fatality in less than a week, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health. Jumaa’s father, Yahya al-Batran, described finding his son with a head “cold as ice” on Sunday morning. Jumaa’s twin brother, Ali, remains in intensive care at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, which is struggling to function due to relentless Israeli airstrikes.The twins were born prematurely and had limited access to critical neonatal care in Gaza’s overwhelmed and under-resourced hospitals.
