Turkish Red Crescent to send tonnes of aid to Gaza

The head of the Turkish Red Crescent announced the dispatch of nearly 2,700 tonnes of aid to Gaza to address the severe shortage of food and other essentials due to Israeli attacks. Additionally, preparations are underway for another aid shipment, with loading ongoing in Turkey’s Mersin province. The aid will be transported to Gaza via Egypt’s Rafah border crossing. Since October 7, 2023, over 30,000 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, have been killed in Israeli attacks, with initial casualties caused by Hamas. The UN has warned that over half a million people in Gaza are at risk of famine, with aid distribution hindered by military operations, communication blackouts, and fuel shortages.
