Norway, Spain, and Ireland announced on Wednesday their recognition of the state of Palestine, a symbolic move aimed at fostering long-lasting peace in the region. This decision increases the number of countries recognizing Palestine to at least 141. Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store emphasized the necessity of recognition in the absence of a peace process and the escalating Israel-Gaza conflict, stating that waiting for the conflict to be resolved was no longer viable. Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris echoed this sentiment, calling recognition the only credible path to peace and security for both Israelis and Palestinians. Formal recognition will occur on May 28.
