Lawyers at US Department of Justice urge investigation into Israel’s killing of Americans: Report (MEE)

Lawyers from the U.S. Department of Justice have urged Attorney General Merrick Garland to investigate Israel for potential war crimes in Gaza and the deaths of American citizens in the West Bank. They noted that U.S. courts have jurisdiction over over 23,000 U.S. citizens
currently serving in Israel’s armed forces, as well as IDF members or Israeli officials visiting the U.S. They highlighted that while the DOJ has imposed sanctions on Russia and Hamas amid conflicts, it has not yet acted similarly concerning Israel’s actions in Gaza. They argued this “silence” conflicts with the DOJ’s commitment to upholding the rule of law in other geopolitical contexts
