Israeli Soldier Kills 59-Year-Old Palestinian as She Harvested Olives on Her Land (Democracy Now)

In the West Bank village of Faqqua near Jenin, mourners held a funeral for 59-year-old Hanan Salameh, a Palestinian woman killed by Israeli soldiers while harvesting olives on her land. According to her son, Faris Salameh, the family had been granted a permit to pick olives as long as they remained over 100 meters from a nearby fence. Despite adhering to this condition, Hanan was fatally shot by Israeli forces as they were preparing to leave. Her death marks one of the 757 Palestinians killed in the West Bank since October 7 of the previous year. Faris recounted that his mother was “shot in cold blood” while they were at the edge of the area, well away from the fence.
