Israeli occupation violates Palestinians’ right to self-determination: Malaysia

Malaysia presented its stance at a hearing in the International Court of Justice, asserting that Palestine possesses the right to self-determination, which has been infringed upon by the Israeli occupation. Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan emphasized the illegality of the occupation under international law and urged for its immediate cessation. Hasan underscored the importance of the ICJ expressing its views on Palestinian self-determination to ensure a fair judgment on the occupation, annexation, and discriminatory policies in Palestine. He highlighted various violations of international law, including the establishment of illegal settlements and the blockade on Gaza, which further restrict the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination. Additionally, Hasan called for continued support for UNRWA and advocated for compensation from Israel for the damages caused to Palestine.
