Israeli authorities have stepped up displacement measures in the occupied West Bank, issuing eviction orders to an entire Bedouin community east of Ramallah and increasing demolitions in occupied East Jerusalem, according to Palestinian sources.
Israeli forces entered the Abu Najeh al-Kaabneh Bedouin community in al-Mughayyir village, east of Ramallah, and delivered a military order requiring approximately 40 residents to dismantle their homes and leave within 48 hours, the Palestinian news agency Wafa reported. The area was declared a “closed military zone,” a designation often used in areas near settlements.
During the operation, three foreign activists who were documenting the eviction were detained, local sources said
The order follows the reported displacement of the Shallal al-Auja community north of Jericho Palestinian officials said the last remaining families left the area after years of pressure and settler-related tensions, bringing an end to a community that once comprised about 120 families.
The developments come amid a rise in reported settler attacks in parts of the Jordan Valley and Qalailya, as well as continued demolitions of Palestinian homes in East Jerusalem.
