How can UN protect others when it cannot defend its own staff?: Turkish president(AA)

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan criticized the UN for failing to protect its personnel
amid Israeli attacks on UN peacekeepers in Lebanon, questioning how it can defend others’
rights in the region. Speaking at the Global Diplomacy and Future of Palestine conference,
Erdogan expressed frustration with the UN Security Council’s inaction, asking, “How much
longer will it stand by as civilians in Gaza suffer?” He further questioned the UN’s ability to
protect Gazan and Lebanese civilians if it cannot shield its own peacekeepers.
