Gaza incursion will ‘continue and intensify,’ IDF says

Israel’s military said Monday that it would “continue and intensify” a ground offensive into Gaza, in what Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said will be a long war in response to Hamas attacks on the country. The head of the United Nations Palestinian refugee agency said that people struck in Gaza were being subject to collective punishment by Israel after the Hamas attacks that killed more than 1,400 in Israel. But Netanyahu rejected growing calls for a cease-fire. “Israel will fight until this battle is won,” he said Monday.
