Colombian President Gustavo Petro announced the suspension of coal exports to Israel due to its assault on Gaza, calling for an end to the violence. Petro, who severed diplomatic ties with Israel in May and has criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, stated that the ban would remain until what he termed “genocide” ceases. Additionally, Colombia will stop purchasing Israeli-made weapons. The coal export ban will take effect in five days, as per a government decree citing the use of coal in Israeli military production.
