Colombia officially halts coal exports to Israel over Gaza massacres

Colombia has officially halted coal exports to Israel due to its use of the material in weapons against Palestinians in Gaza, President Gustavo Petro announced. Petro cited Israel’s attacks on Gaza as the reason, stating, “Colombian coal is used to make bombs to kill Palestinian children.” The decree, signed by several ministers, will take effect five days after publication. Colombia, which exports 5% of its coal to Israel, also suspended diplomatic relations in May over the Gaza conflict, though both nations continue trade and maintain consulates. Colombia has relied on Israel for military equipment, including fighter jets.
