Cannes: Palestinian actors withdraw from festival over Israeli ‘cultural erasure’

Palestinian actors from the film “Let It Be Morning” have announced they will not attend this year’s Cannes Film Festival in protest against the film being labeled as an “Israeli production.” Written and directed by Israeli Eran Kolirin, the film is an adaptation of a book by Palestinian writer Sayed Kashua and stars prominent Arab and Palestinian actors. The cast signed a letter objecting to the film’s classification at Cannes and decided to withdraw from the event, scheduled for 6 to 17 July.
