Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor has urged the United Nations to send an international mission to investigate severe crimes and violations against Palestinian prisoners in Israeli detention facilities. In a statement issued yesterday, the rights group highlighted the alarming increase in crimes, including premeditated killings, torture, ill-treatment, and enforced disappearances of Palestinian detainees, especially from Gaza, since the start of Israel’s military operations in October 2023.The group confirmed the deaths of three detainees from Gaza, bringing the total number of Palestinian prisoners killed in Israeli prisons since October 7, 2023, to 54. It stressed that these acts are not isolated incidents but part of a broader pattern of systemic abuse, shielded by impunity at all levels within Israel.
Euro-Med Monitor also pointed out the long-lasting physical and psychological injuries suffered by many released prisoners, some of whom remain permanently disabled. The organization condemned the international silence on these abuses, arguing that it has allowed Israel to continue and even escalate its actions against Palestinian detainees.
