Palestinian bodybuilder Muazzaz Abayat, recently released from nine months in Israeli detention without charges, was rearrested early Thursday at his Bethlehem home. His father, Khalil Abayat, reported that Muazzaz, still weak and receiving medical treatment from previous alleged torture and starvation in prison, was taken and beaten by Israeli forces. “He is very sick and has not recovered, physically or psychologically,” Khalil told Middle East Eye, adding that he has no information on his son’s current whereabouts.
