European delegation condemn Israeli demolitions during visit to south Hebron

Representatives from Belgium, Canada, Denmark, the EU, Finland, France, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, and the UK visited Um al Kheir in South Hebron after a mass demolition on June 26. This was the largest demolition in the West Bank since October 7. Diplomats saw the destruction of homes, a community center, and an electricity generator, all vital to the community. The delegation urged Israel to stop demolitions and confiscations in Um al Kheir and Khallet al-Tabe to prevent devastation and potential forcible transfers. They noted further demolitions in Beitillu, Silwan, At-Tur, Al Auja, and east of Jericho, calling for a halt throughout Area C and East Jerusalem. They emphasized Israel’s obligations under Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention and reiterated opposition to illegal settlements that hinder peace efforts.
