Recently, reporters have seen scores of Palestinians returning to their area, searching for their homes and salvaging belongings. Men, women, and children walked through streets now filled with grey concrete slabs where their houses once stood. Charred furniture, beds, and mangled iron doors littered the camp, which was home to over 100,000 people before the war. Families carried belongings on donkey carts or walked with beds and mattresses on their heads.
