Türkiye’s UN representative, Sedat Onal, raised concerns about the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza during a UN Security Council meeting. He highlighted the dire conditions faced by 2.2 million Gazans due to relentless bombardment and insufficient humanitarian aid. Onal also pointed out the suspension of funding to UNRWA, exacerbating the risk of famine. Despite ongoing efforts, the Council has been unable to halt the crisis, with a new tragedy unfolding in Rafah. Onal urged the Council to heed global calls for immediate ceasefire, unhindered aid delivery, and prevention of forced displacement. Türkiye pledged continued engagement in international peace efforts, climate change mitigation, and addressing global food insecurity.
