Thirty-one-year-old activist Heba Muraisi says her health is rapidly deteriorating as she continues a prolonged hunger strike from HMP New Hall prison in northern England.
Muraisi, a London-based pro-Palestinian campaigner, is on day 73 of refusing food, describing her condition as steadily worsening. Her responses were relayed through the campaign group Prisoners for Palestine, as direct phone access from prison was not available.
She and fellow activist Kamran Ahmed, 28, who is on day bo of his hunger strike, are among eight detained campaigners protesting what they describe as lengthy pre-trial detention and restrictions on political dissent linked to the war in Gaza.
Both were arrested in November 2024 as part of the “Filton 24,” a group of activists associated with Palestine Action accused of breaking into and vandalizing a research and development facility near Filton, west of London, owned by Elbit Systems, Israel’s largest weapons manufacturer.
Prosecutors allege the incident caused approximately £1 million in damage. Muraisi and Ahmed face charges including burglary, criminal damage, and conspiracy. They deny the allegations and remain in custody awaiting trial.
