Hundreds of thousands of people marched through Istanbul on Thursday in a mass show of solidarity with Palestinians, condemning Israel’s war on Gaza and rejecting claims that a ceasefi re has eased conditions.
Protesters carrying Palestinian and Turkish fl ags gathered on the historic Galata Bridge despite freezing weather. The rally, organised by civil society groups under the National Will Platform with the support of football clubs, drew participation from more than 400 organisations.
Galatasaray chair Dursun Ozbek called Israel’s actions a moral test for the world, saying silence in the face of oppression must not become normal.
