An AI-powered social media profile designed to promote Israeli narratives about the war on Gaza has inadvertently produced anti-Israeli content and false information. The bot, FactFinder AI, denied the death of an Israeli family in the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack, falsely claimed that Israeli captives released by Hamas were still held, and accused Israel of being behind a proposed US TikTok ban. It also encouraged solidarity with Palestinians and criticized pro-Israeli narratives, even calling Israeli soldiers “white colonizers in apartheid Israel.” The bot was meant to promote Israeli government positions but instead generated content contrary to those aims.
