On Tuesday, the Israeli military launched a major assault on Jenin in the northern occupied West Bank, bombing the city and storming it with ground forces. The attacks killed at least seven Palestinians and injured 35, according to the Palestinian health ministry. The operation, expected to lastseveral days, came after a ceasefire in Gaza. Palestinian Authority security forces, who had been besieging Jenin since December, withdrew as the Israeli offensive began. Reports from the ground indicate that Israeli forces are besieging both al-Amal and Jenin Governmental hospitals. A resident described the situation as “extremely dire, ” and the assault began with Israeli special forces infiltrating the Jabriyat neighborhood, followed by airstrikes that killed a man outside the refugee camp.
