The World Food Programme (WFP) has paused the movement of its staff in Gaza after one of its vehicles was struck by Israeli gunfire near the Wadi Gaza Bridge checkpoint. The incident occurred on Tuesday night as the vehicle, part of a humanitarian mission, was approaching an Israeli-controlled checkpoint. UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric blamed Israel for the attack, stating that the “clearly marked” WFP vehicle was hit 10 times, including shots targeting the driver’s side and windscreen. The team had just escorted a convoy carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza’s central area.
